Bringt’s das ebay®-Addin für mozilla Firefoxâ„¢?
Ich habe bereits über das geplante ebay-Addin für den mozilla Firefox berichtet.
Dei Zusammenarbeit er beiden Giganten trägt erste öffentliche Früchte heute wurde eine Vorversion des Addins (ebay-0.9.6.3.xpi) zum Herunterladen unter http://de.www.mozilla.com/de/add-ons/ebay/ bereitgestellt.
Gedacht ist das Ganze als Ereichtung für Firefox-Nutzer die "wo auch immer sie sich im Netz befinden" in Kontakt zu laufenden Angeboten bleiben wollen. Da ist von "besseren Online-Erfahrungen" die Rede. Nun gut, die 500 k sind
schnell heruntergezogen und die Installation stellt auch keine Hürde dar, sich die Geschichte einmal anzusehen.
Einen zusätzlichen Menüeintrag (nervig neben dem Home-Symbol .. ich weiß man kann das verschieben) indem ich die Wahl habe zwischen "Mein eBay", "eBay-Hompage", "Fehler melden", "Sidebar öffnen", "Ausloggen" und "Optionen".
Was bietet der Firefox Companion bis jetzt?
Mit den "Optionen" lege ich fest. welche Aktion im Fenster und welche in dem Sidebar ausgeführt werden sollen.
Dann ist da noch der Sidebar selbst. Hier gibt es die eBay-Suche und eine eigene Liste ähnlich der unter "Mein eBay" zu sehen.
Die Artikelfotos werden als Thumbnail dargestellt, weiterhin sehe ich den Artikelnamen und den Preis. Beim Mouseover giubt es dann noch den Verkäufer und das Angebotsende … toll.
Mal vom ärgerlichen Platzverlust auf dem Desktop abgesehen, bietet die Geschichte nichts wirklich Neues und einen besseren Nutzen vermag ich auch nicht zu erkennen. Mit reicht das Tabbed-Browsing in Verbindung mit den Tasten [ALT]+[Tab] aus, um schnell im Bilde zu sein – mag aber daran liegen, dass ich kein Mausfummler sondern ein Tastenquäler bin…
Vorab-Fazit: ein weiteres ding, dass die Welt nicht braucht.

Hmm die Terms & Conditions machen mir schon ein wenig mehr Sorge… vorbei die frohe, freie Zeit… Wer's mag:
Firefox Companion™ for eBay® ("eBay Companion") operates in conjunction with third-party software (Mozilla Firefox® software). Before you can install the eBay Companion you must agree to the following Terms and Conditions. By clicking the Agree button, you are acknowledging that you have read and agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions. If you do not accept the Terms and Conditions, you may not use the software.
eBay Companion Terms and Conditions
By using the eBay Companion, you agree to be bound by the following Terms and Conditions.
eBay Companion Use. eBay* grants you the right to use the eBay Companion for your personal, non-commercial use only, subject to these Terms and Conditions. You may not modify, copy, publish, license or sell any information or software associated with the eBay Companion. You may not rent, lease or otherwise transfer rights to the eBay Companion. Furthermore, you may not use the eBay Companion in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden or impair the eBay site, nor may you use the eBay Companion in any manner that could interfere with any other party's use and enjoyment of the eBay site. You agree that you will use the eBay Companion only in compliance with all applicable laws, including but not limited to copyright and other intellectual property laws, and with the eBay User Agreement you agreed to when registering as an eBay member. Your right to use the eBay Companion will terminate immediately if you violate any provision of these Terms and Conditions or if you have been suspended by eBay. All provisions of these Terms and Conditions except the License Grant will survive termination and continue in effect. Upon termination, you may no longer use the eBay Companion and you must destroy all copies of the eBay Companion.
eBay's Site. The eBay Companion is designed to be used in conjunction with the eBay site while browsing the internet using the Firefox web browser from Mozilla. Accordingly, your use of eBay Companion is also defined by the eBay User Agreement and Privacy Policy.
User Controls and Uninstall. Your eBay Companion preferences (found under "Add Ons" in the "Tools" menu) allow you to control how the eBay Companion alerts, Account Guard and other functions operate, and to change or delete your Account Guard information. You can also disable or uninstall the eBay Companion using the functions available from the eBay Companion preferences.
Intellectual Property. You acknowledge that eBay owns all rights, title and interest in and to the eBay Companion, including without limitation all Intellectual Property Rights. "Intellectual Property Rights" means any and all rights existing from time to time under patent law, copyright law, trade secret law, trademark law unfair competition law, and any and all other proprietary rights, and any and all applications, renewals, extensions and restorations thereof, now or hereafter in force and effect worldwide. You agree not to modify, adapt, translate, prepare derivative works from, decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble or otherwise attempt to derive source code from the eBay Companion unless explicitly allowed by law. You also agree to not remove, obscure, or alter eBay's copyright notice, trademarks, or other proprietary rights notices affixed to or contained within or accessed in conjunction with or through the eBay Companion.
Disclaimer of Warranties. eBay disclaims any responsibility for any harm resulting from your use of the eBay Companion (including without limitation, any spoof site detection technology or any information contained therein). The eBay Companion is provided "as is," with no warranties whatsoever. eBay expressly disclaims to the fullest extent permitted by law all express, implied and statutory warranties, including without limitation the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of spoof site detection technology or data and non infringement of proprietary rights. eBay disclaims any warranties regarding the security, reliability, timeliness and performance of the eBay Companion. You understand and agree that you download and use the eBay Companion at your own discretion and risk and that you will be solely responsible for any damages to your computer system or loss of data that results from the download or use of the eBay Companion. Some states or other jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so the above exclusions may not apply to you. You may also have other rights that vary from state to state and jurisdiction to jurisdiction.
For German users: the foregoing does not apply for defects that have been concealed by eBay maliciously.
Limitation of Liability. Under no circumstances shall eBay be liable to any user on account of that user's use or misuse of the eBay Companion. Such limitation of liability shall apply to prevent recovery of direct, indirect incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, and punitive damages whether such claim is based on warranty, contract tort (including negligence), or otherwise, (even if eBay has been advised of the possibility of such damages). Such limitation of liability shall apply whether the damages arise from use or misuse of and reliance on the eBay Companion, from the performance or misperformance of the eBay Companion, from inability to use the eBay Companion, or from the interruption, suspension or termination of the eBay Companion (including such damages incurred by third parties). Such limitation shall apply notwithstanding a failure of essential purpose of any limited remedy and to the fullest extent permitted by law. Some states or other jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of liability for incidental or consequential damages so the above limitations and exclusions may not apply to you.
For German users: Provided that eBay makes the eBay Companion available to you free-of-charge, eBay shall only be liable for intent and gross negligence. This does not apply in case of mandatory statutory liability, in particular in case of injury of life, body and health or if eBay has concealed defects of the eBay Companion maliciously.
Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless eBay, and its parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, shareholders, employees and agents, from any claim or demand, made by any third party due to or arising directly or indirectly out of your conduct or in connection with your use of the eBay Companion, any alleged violation of these Terms and Conditions or the eBay User Agreement, or any alleged violation of any applicable law or regulation. eBay reserves the right, at its own expense, to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, but doing so shall not excuse your indemnity obligations.
Miscellaneous Provisions. You are responsible for complying with trade regulations and both foreign and domestic laws. You acknowledge that the eBay Companion or underlying technology may not be downloaded to or exported or re-exported: (a) into (or to a resident or national of) Cuba, Iraq, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Syria or any other country subject to United States embargo; (b) to anyone on the US Treasury Department's list of Specially Designated Nationals or on the US Commerce Department's Denied Party or Entity List; and (c) you will not export or re-export the Software to any prohibited country, person, end-user or entity specified by US Export Laws.
These Terms and Conditions will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without giving effect to the conflict of laws provisions of California or your actual state or country of residence. If for any reason a court of competent jurisdiction finds any provision or portion of these Terms and Conditions to be unenforceable, the remainder of these Terms and Conditions will continue in full force and effect.
These Terms and Conditions constitute the entire agreement between the parties with respect to the subject matter hereof and supersede and replace all prior or contemporaneous understandings or agreements, written or oral, regarding such subject matter. Any waiver of any provision of these Terms and Conditions will be effective only if in writing and signed by eBay. eBay reserves the right to modify or change these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
* eBay in these Terms and Conditions refers to the eBay entity you contracted with when you registered as an eBay member.
